Addie's 5th Birthday Party

We have the greatest friends that know how to throw the best parties ever! Amelia's good friend Addie turned 5 and had an awesome birthday party. They had swings to play on, a pinata and best of all miniature ponies!!!!

It was kind of funny because after the kids rode the ponies, they smashed the pony pinata!Amelia had the time of her life and Elliott loved checking out the ponies. Sunday was also Grandpa's birthday so we ended the day celebrating his birthday. Happy Birthday Grandpa and Addie! We love you!!!

Beach Bums

We took Elliott to the beach for the first time this weekend. He had a great time and was not afraid of the water at all. He loved it. It was hilarious because he kept trying to float on his back while his was playing in a little puddle of water. After a while Daddy took him out to the big waves and he loved it. I got a little nervous and made him bring my baby back to swallow water. After that he kept wanting to walk out into the ocean. A wave would come and knock him down and he would just get back up and keep walking. That boy has no fear.

Amelia was content playing in the sand and flying her kite. She is not crazy about the ocean, she is warming up to it a little but does not like it as much as her brother does. Elliott also discovered the joys of fishing (at least that's what he thought he was doing). We could not keep the pole away from him. He ended up breaking it by the end of the day.

It was another memorable, fun filled weekend for the Quijano clan!

Girls Night Out

Amelia, Grandma Rosie and I had a girls night out this weekend. We went downtown to the Arneson River Theatre and saw Fiesta Noche Del Rio. Amelia was so excited to see "Big Girl Folklorico" dancers like herself. While we were waiting for the show to start she spotted a river taxi and had to have a ride on it. Of course I could not refuse. So I paid $8 for us to ride about 5 minutes up the river and get off and walk back. O-well, how could I say no, it was our special date night. While we were walking back to the theatre we were talking and I was telling Amelia how proud I was of her and what a smart, kind, honest girl she was growing up to be. She said to me "Yes, but Daddy is sad that I am growing up". It's so funny how much she picks up on. She is right, Daddy is having a very hard time with the fact that his baby girl is no longer a baby anymore.

Speaking of growing up.... A family sat next to us who had a little boy named Jayden. Jayden had quite the personality and really liked Amelia. He went and sat next to her at the beginning of the show and by the end of the show he was as close to her as he could get. Amelia handled herself well and inched away whenever he got to close.

Throughout the whole show the dancers kept picking Amelia and Jayden out of the crowd to go up and dance with them. They were more then willing to participate. At one point, the host asked all the couples celebrating an anniversary to come up. She introduced them and said she was going to sing two songs for them to dance to. Then she invited any members of the audience that were in love to come up and dance. At that moment Jayden stood up and took Amelia by the hand to dance. The audience went wild and started to cheer and clap for them. They danced two songs together. It was really cute and I am glad Frank was not there because I don't think he would have allowed it.

Another wonderful night full of wonderful memories. I am so lucky to have the family that I have!

4th of July Week

My Aunt Jean, Uncle Nils and Cousins Annika and Benicio were visiting from California during 4th of July week. We had a great time. We went to my Grandma's house in Pleasanton and all 5 of her daughters were there. Grandma has about 20 wild cats living outside so the kids had fun playing with the cats and running around in the country.

On Sunday, July 6th my we had a party for Annika and Benicio at my Aunt's house. All my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins were there. There was a moon bounce, pinata, face painting and volleyball. You name it we had it. It was a blast! Spending this week with my family reinforced our decision to stay in San Antonio and NEVER move to Dallas!! I can always find another job but I can never replace my family.
